Büchi filter nut
Büchi filter nut
Glass filter hoppers, completely metal-free, with a wide range of optionsGlass filter funnels are used in process engineering for solid-liquid separation. The use of glass as a material and the metal-free construction also allow for the use of corrosive media. The mixture (liquid containing solids) is fed into the funnel via an inlet valve on the lid. After filtration, the solids can be recovered in various ways. However, Büchi’s filter funnels fulfil a number of other functions as well, making them a multifunctional reactor.
Product Description
Glass filter chutes are used in process engineering for solid-liquid separation. The material glass and the metal-free design also allow the use of corrosive media.
The mixture of substances (liquid with solids) is fed into the nutsche, e.g. via an inlet valve on the lid. After filtration, the solids can be recovered in different ways.
The substance mixtures are often homogenised or the product crystals are grown in a stirred tank or stirring vessel and then transferred to the filter using a vacuum, slight overpressure or a chemical-resistant feed pump.
In an explosion-protected environment, all components must of course be designed for the hazard class, and different filter fluxes can be used in the PTFE seal depending on the size of the solids. The technical design of the seal is such that no medium can find its way to the outside.
As an option, we offer a manual or electric stirrer for adaptation to the cover plate. An agitator can be used to homogenise during the filtering process or to break up the cake after filtration. Connecting an electric or manual agitator to a filter chute can significantly simplify the washing process.
After filtration, the solids can be dried in different ways. In the case of a double-walled chute, one option is to heat the outer wall of the glass chute to the desired drying temperature using a thermal fluid. In this combination, the glass filter chute then becomes a filter dryer [pre-dryer] after filtration.
After the drying phase, or if this is not necessary, the filter cake is recovered. This is where the integrated lift and swivelling system of the Buchi filter chutes comes into play.
The components of the nutsche that come into contact with the product, regardless of whether they come into contact with liquid or gas, are metal-free as standard. The main materials that come into contact with your product (chemicals) are glass, enamel, PTFE, PEEK or PFA. This makes them suitable for use in the pharmaceutical and electronics (semiconductor) industries.
As an option, we also offer the filter units as a cleanroom model or integrate the units into glovebox containers specially manufactured for you.

Options and Accessories
• Agitator: An agitator can be used to homogenise the mixture during filtration or to break up the cake during the washing process.
• Temperature-controlled jacket: A heated jacket transforms the filter into a crystalliser, reactor or dryer, as required.
• Insulation sleeves – these are custom-made for individual glass components and protect them from cooling too quickly or help maintain the temperature within the system.
• Coating: The glass components can be coated on the outside for various reasons. One argument in favour of coating would be protection against breakage and splintering.
• MiniPilot: The MiniPilot (2–15 litres) is a glass reactor (glass stirring system) which can be used for stirring, extraction, phase separation, homogenisation, concentration, etc. The glass apparatus is housed in a sturdy stainless steel frame.
• BR series: The BR series (15–60 (100) litres) comprises a chemical reactor (glass stirring reactor) which can be used for stirring, extraction, phase separation, distillation, homogenisation, concentration, etc. The apparatus consists of a glass vessel and glass fittings. The components are housed in a sturdy stainless steel frame.
• GR series: The GR series (15–60 (100) litres) is a glass reactor (glass stirring system) which can be used for stirring, extraction, phase separation, distillation, homogenisation, concentration, etc. The glass apparatus is housed in a sturdy stainless steel frame.
• CR series: The CR series (15–250 litres) comprises a chemical reactor (stirred reactor) which can be used for stirring, extraction, phase separation, distillation, homogenisation, concentration, etc. The apparatus consists of an enamelled steel vessel and glass components. The components are housed in a sturdy stainless steel frame.
• I&C package: In addition to the standard measurement, control and regulation components, Buchi systems can be expanded with customised I&C packages.
• Gas scrubber: With the help of the Buchi gas scrubber, the exhaust gases produced during the reaction can be purified.
• Specialities: Within the scope of technical feasibility, we are happy to manufacture a customised filter funnel tailored to your requirements. Please contact us!
