From the laboratory to the pharmacy GMP production of magnetic nanoparticles

Nanoparticles represent a huge platform technology for biomedical applications such as diagnostics and drug delivery. This can be particularly important in cancer therapy for treatment with chemotherapeutics (in this case "magnetic drug targeting"). A Büchi 2-litre Minipilot system for the GMP-compliant production of small quantities of these drugs in the pharmacy of the University Hospital of FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg will be presented.
