ALS Inter-Digital Array (IDA) and lithographic electrodes
Lithographic electrodes for ring-disc experiments, conductivity measurements and Inter-Digital Array (IDA) for measuring extremely small sample quantitiesDue to their small dimensions, lithographically fabricated electrodes make it possible to carry out measurements or detection using small sample quantities. The electrodes are designed for applications such as ring-disk experiments, conductivity measurements, electrochemical experiments or sensor technology involving small sample quantities.
Product Description
Interdigtated Array (IDA) electrodes have been developed for electrochemical measurements on very small sample quantities.
IDA electrodes can be used for detecting or analysing electrochemical reactions of compounds. The microelectrode structure is fabricated by lithographic methods on a fused silica substrate and consists of 65 pairs of interdigitated electrodes, each pair of which can serve as an oxidation and reduction electrode.
Interdigitated array (IDA) electrodes without a passivation membrane are used when the dielectric constant is to be calculated from the measured capacitance in AC voltage/current measurements. With conventional IDA electrodes with a passivating membrane, the capacitance of the membrane would also be measured and a correct result for the sample itself would not be measurable.
The ring disc electrodes are printed electrodes. The user can choose between carbon, gold and platinum versions. These electrodes are used, among other things, as working electrodes in radial flow cells, where a complete conversion (reduction or oxidation) can be achieved on the disc in the centre at a very low flow rate, as the electrodes have a very good coulometric efficiency. In addition, these electrodes are used for the measurement of hydrogen peroxide at zero volts by applying an osmium gel / HRP (horseradish peroxidase) (developed by Prof Adam Heller, Texas Univ.). As a result, this electrode can be used in FIA (Flow Injection Analysis) systems with different combinations of enzymes.
The conductivity electrodes consist of platinum electrodes and connections which are applied to a quartz glass substrate. The current-supplying electrodes are located on the outside and the electrodes for measuring the resulting potential difference are located between them. The distance between the measuring electrodes can be selected depending on the sample. The distances are between 40 µm and 250 µm depending on the selected contact pair.
