Büchi glass assemblies
Büchi glass assemblies
Glass components for the process engineering representation of chemical processesGlass apparatus forms part of a complete process system for various applications. The advantages of glass include its broad chemical resistance and the ability to visually monitor reactions. Typical applications include phase separation, stirring, distillation, rectification, etc. The glass apparatus is customised to meet the specific requirements of the customer’s chemical processes.
Product Description
Glass superstructures are part of an overall process engineering apparatus that is used for a wide variety of applications.
The advantage of glass over other materials is characterised by its broad chemical resistance and the ability to see inside the system. Typical fields of application are phase separation, stirring, distillation, rectification, etc. Glass superstructures are usually customised to the requirements of the chemical industry (customer).
Components of the glass superstructures can be, for example: pipework, valve technology, vessels (horizontal for phase separation or vertical), columns with or without packing, coolers, reflux condensers, condensers, etc.
These components are made of borosilicate glass 3.3 and are connected to each other via PTFE seals and screw connections. Buchi glass superstructures are characterised by a high degree of flexibility that is atypical for glass components, which is made possible by the unique Buchi Flex glass connection system.
The Buchi-Flex glass connection system (ball and socket system) was developed in 1946 and has only been optimised in detail since then. The connection system is TA Luft certified and fulfils the latest requirements.
An investment in the Buchi glass connection system is long-lasting, so components with almost 70 years of history can still be installed today. Thanks to the simple design of the connection system and the centred seal, installation can also be carried out by the hirer.
The manufacturer offers interesting and varied glass construction training courses 2-3 times a year for users who would like to expand their knowledge of glass construction. [Link: Glass construction training]
The components of the glass superstructures that come into contact with the product, regardless of whether they come into contact with liquids or gases, are metal-free as standard. The main materials that come into contact with your product (chemicals) are glass, enamel, PTFE and PFA. This makes them suitable for use in the pharmaceutical and electronics (semiconductor) industries.

Options and Accessories
Coating: Glass vessels may be coated for various reasons when used outdoors. One reason for coating would be to provide protection against breakage and splintering.
MiniPilot: The MiniPilot (2–15 litres) is a glass reactor (glass stirring system) which can be used for stirring, extraction, phase separation, homogenisation, concentration, etc. The glass apparatus is housed in a sturdy stainless steel frame.
BR series: The BR series (15–60 (100) litres) comprises a chemical reactor (glass stirring reactor) which can be used for stirring, extraction, phase separation, distillation, homogenisation, concentration, etc. The apparatus consists of a glass vessel and the glass fittings. The components are housed in a sturdy stainless steel frame.
GR series: The GR series (15–60 (100) litres) is a glass reactor (glass stirring system) which can be used for stirring, extraction, phase separation, distillation, homogenisation, concentration, etc. The glass apparatus is housed in a sturdy stainless steel frame.
CR series: The CR series (15–250 litres) comprises a chemical reactor (stirred reactor) which can be used for stirring, extraction, phase separation, distillation, homogenisation, concentration, etc. The apparatus consists of an enamelled steel vessel and glass components. The components are housed in a sturdy stainless steel frame.
I&C package: In addition to the standard measurement, control and regulation components, Buchi systems can be expanded with customised I&C packages.
Filter funnels: Buchi filter funnels can be used to separate solids from the fluid after the reaction.
Gas scrubber: The Buchi gas scrubber can be used to purify the exhaust gases produced during the reaction.
Insulation sleeves – are custom-made for individual glass components and protect the glass components from cooling down too quickly or maintain the temperature within the system.
Specialities: Within the scope of what is technically feasible, we would be happy to manufacture a bespoke glass system for you that precisely meets your requirements. Please contact us,…..
