Büchi magnetic couplings
Büchi magnetic couplings
under pressure or vacuum – strong and completely leak-proofBüchi offers a well-established and successful drive concept for a range of volumes and torque ratings. The purely magnetic coupling, with no rotating external parts, reliably and safely transmits power from the motor to the agitator, offering maximum safety for the operator. ATEX versions are available.
Product Description
Büchi’s robust magnetic couplings, which have been tried and tested thousands of times, work according to the same principle from the laboratory/technical centre to production scale.
By avoiding rotating external parts, our magnetic couplings offer maximum safety for the operator.
The magnetic couplings are simply screwed directly onto the cover plate. Sealing is static; no dynamically loaded seals are used. Power transmission is achieved exclusively by the magnetic field between the inner and outer magnets. The drive, cover plate and receptacle therefore form a hermetically sealed unit. The standard magnetic couplings are available in torques from 50 to 5400 Ncm with or without ATEX certification Customised designs are also possible here.
Magnetic couplings made of tantalum, for example, are also available on request.
For metal-free applications, Büchi has developed a unique magnetic coupling whose wetted components are made of ceramic and inert plastics. Special drive-magnetic coupling combinations are available for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX).
The magnetic couplings in the bmd 1800/3600/5400 series with ceramic ball bearings are particularly suitable for highly viscous media and containers on a pilot/production scale. The ceramic ball bearings ensure smooth operation even under extreme conditions. The diameter of the agitator shafts is between 25 and 35 mm.

Options and Accessories
• In very extreme conditions (e.g. continuous operation, heavy agitators, etc.), ceramic ball bearings can be
used instead of the tried-and-tested plain bearings.
• High-pressure variants – at pressures above 300 bar, the magnetic couplings are usually welded to the cover plate.
• ATEX-compliant magnetic stirrer drives, in-line or side-mounted – depending on space requirements and the torque required
