Data collection and automation – straightforward and reliableBüchi measurement and control instruments enable direct communication with pressure reactors. The instruments are flexibly configurable and designed to measure and display various process parameters in chemical laboratories and process plants – including in hazardous areas. Büchi also offers automation of individual processes, right through to full automation with recipe control.
Product Description
The Büchi measuring and control devices offer you direct communication with the sensors of the Büchi pressurised reactor systems.
The devices are flexibly configurable and designed for measuring and displaying various process parameters in chemical laboratories and process plants. Our solutions can be installed in various areas:
– Inside the Ex zone (field devices) (Ex)
– Outside the Ex zone with connection to devices inside the Ex zone ([Ex])
– Completely outside the Ex zone or in Ex-free zones such as laboratories (none Ex)
The automation of individual processes up to full automation with recipe control can also be realised with Büchi.
bds md – 3-channel measuring and display unit (Fig. 1)
This compact, ready-to-connect measuring and display device (not Ex, optional [Ex]) is designed for measuring 1 to 3 process parameters. The measurement data can be saved and displayed in the bls software.

– Temperature / pressure / vacuum, agitator speed
bds mc – 6-channel measuring, display and control unit (Fig. 2)
The ready-to-use bds mc multi-channel device (not Ex, optional [Ex]) can measure and display up to 6 process parameters. Operation via touch screen is very simple. The measurement data can be saved and displayed in the bls software. This device also has regulation and control functions for various parameters, flexibly configurable.
Measurement / display of 6 process parameters such as:
– Temperature / pressure / vacuum, torque, pH, stirrer speed
Regulation and control of up to 2 parameters simultaneously, such as
– Speed, vacuum, pressure, flow control and recording of the gas quantity

Field indicators for installation within the Ex zone (Fig. 4)
Intrinsically safe single and multi-channel Ex indicators for ATEX zones 1 and 2. These devices are robust and flexibly configurable.
bds cx (Fig. 5)
The bds cx controller (non-Ex, optional [Ex]) is a 1-channel controller for the following parameters, for example:
– Vacuum, pressure, temperature
btc temperature controller for metal pressure reactors (Fig. 6)
The Büchi btc PID controller (none Ex, option [Ex]) ensures precise maintenance of the process temperature and efficient heating/cooling of reactors (stainless steel, Hastelloy, others) in laboratories and pilot plants. The typical control range is from room temperature up to 500°C.
bds XA2
The bds XA2 adapter is used to record 2 analogue signals via RS232 on a PC. The bds XA2 is configured directly in the Büchi bls 3 software.
The most common application is the integration of the pressure sensor into the bls 3 software; Büchi pressure reactor systems can thus be controlled directly via the software and all process-relevant data can be read out.
Automation
The automation of individual processes increases reproducibility. Repetitive processes are fully automated in production to safeguard workflows and ultimately increase production.
Büchi systems can be automated on request with varying degrees of automation. For this purpose, technology from companies with local support is used, which fulfil the required guidelines regarding EX zoning of the installation or the devices to be connected. Such solutions are usually customised and often have to be adapted to internal factory standards.
Büchi solutions with PLC controls usually cover the control of several parameters, often these are
- Stirrer speed, vacuum / pressure, temperature control, data recording
