Product Description
The BM-200 Mixer/Mill® laboratory bead mill is the entry-level model in the Cole-Parmer Mixer/Mill series. The interchangeable sample holders and sample containers made of different materials make it ideal for grinding small quantities of a wide variety of hard and tough materials such as stone, minerals, cement and ceramics.
The BM-200 Mixer/Mill® achieves the best possible grinding and mixing results in the shortest possible time thanks to its unique grinding motion in the form of a horizontal figure of eight and a maximum speed of 3500 rpm. Plastic sample vessels with 6 x 2ml, 4 x 5ml, 2 x 7ml or 2 x 12ml for mixing tasks or sample vessels made of steel, agate or tungsten carbide (1 x 3.5ml or 5ml each) can be used for more demanding grinding tasks. The disposable vessels available for mixing tasks prevent contamination and save time. The choice of grinding container is primarily based on the material to be ground and its hardness as well as any special requirements of the subsequent analysis. The high final fineness of the sample resulting from the grinding process leads to an increase in surface area, which significantly improves the quality of a subsequent acid digestion for ICP-MS or that of a compact or a melting tablet for X-ray fluorescence analysis.
The already filled or still empty sample vessel of the BM-200 Mixer/Mill® is inserted into the holding clamp in a few simple steps, which is then closed and secured. The user closes the lid, selects the grinding time in seconds or minutes and the speed and presses the start button. The unique grinding movement in the form of a horizontal figure of eight supports a homogeneous and reproducible grinding result across all individual tubes. In addition, the very high speed (max. 3500 revolutions per minute) ensures complete grinding even of difficult materials within a very short time. The transparent lid of the Cole-Parmer BM-200 Mixer/Mill® laboratory ball mill enables continuous monitoring of the grinding process by visual inspection throughout the entire process. The grinding process ends automatically after the time has elapsed, but can also be interrupted manually by the operator at any time. A safety mechanism interrupts the grinding process immediately if an attempt is made to open the lid of the appliance.
