Cole-Parmer BM-600 Planetary Ball Mill

For mixing and rapid grinding of hard, medium-hard, brittle and fibrous laboratory samples to analytical fineness (submicron to nanometre range, depending on the sample). Dry or in suspension.

The Cole-Parmer BM-600 Planetary Mill can grind 50–225 g of sample material per run, with ten individually configurable grinding programmes available for this purpose. Depending on the hardness of the sample, grinding tools and grinding balls are available in either stainless steel or hardened steel. The device features a safety lock to protect the user. The ergonomic design allows the mill to be easily loaded with the grinding tool.

Product Description

In the Cole-Parmer BM-600 Planetary Mill, grinding is achieved by rotating the grinding set, which is positioned eccentrically on a turning rotor, the sun wheel, around its own axis. The superposition of the forces generated by the planetary movement ensures that the samples are ground. The grinding ball in the grinding vessel crushes the material to be ground down to a particle size in the nanometre range using extremely high pressure, impact and friction.

The grinding container is clamped into the grinding container holder by means of a quick-release fastener, which minimises set-up times. The BM-600 Planetary Mill has an adjustable counterweight to reduce vibrations and the load on the mechanical components. The capacity of the available grinding sets ranges from 50 to 225g sample quantity (gross 250 or 500g). Grinding sets are available in two different materials, each with two different grinding volumes. Grinding can be carried out dry or wet.

The Cole-Parmer BM-600 Planetary Mill is equipped with an industry-standard control system that is operated via a user-friendly touchscreen. The user has several languages to choose from. For communication purposes, the Cole-Parmer BM-600 Planetary Mill has a USB port for reading in and out grinding programmes. The Planetary Mill also has a lid lock to ensure the safety of laboratory personnel. The device is designed for stationary operation on a stable table.

As the Cole-Parmer BM-600 Planetary Mill achieves very high final finenesses in a very short time, it is particularly suitable for sample preparation for spectral analysis and so-called nanomilling.
