Mixing and degassing on a pilot plant scale – without a vacuum, in a single step.

The ARE-500 – A planetary centrifugal mixer for pilot plants and small-batch production in the shortest possible time. Highly efficient mixing without a stirring mechanism. Degassing is often possible without a vacuum – for this purpose, the unit features a separate degassing mode with a modified gear ratio.

Product Description

The Thinky ARE-500 enables highly efficient mixing and dispersing without an agitator. Typical processing times are just a few minutes. The sample is also effectively degassed thanks to the rotary movement.

The movement is a superposition of centrifugal and self-rotating movement. The ratio between the speed of the two movements has a major influence on the result.
In mixing mode, the speed of the centrifugal movement always corresponds to the rotational speed. This high gear ratio also makes it possible to homogenise with high density differences in combination with very low-viscosity media without any problems, e.g. mixing low-viscosity silicones with heavy powders such as phosphorus, as is common in LED production. The device can also be supplied ex works with a different transmission ratio.

Although it is a device without an integrated vacuum pump, a degassing mode is available, which is often sufficient for effective degassing by centrifugal force with low to medium viscosity media.

The degassing mode is characterised by a significantly lower ratio between internal rotation and centrifugal movement than in mixing mode, as centrifugal forces are primarily required here. A slight circulation ensures that the sample does not segregate.

In most cases, a mixing process is completed within 1-2 minutes, whereas complete degassing often takes 4-5 minutes – time in which the medium can continue to heat up, depending on the internal friction of the medium. This operating mode is suitable for temperature-sensitive media or if the temperature would exceed the permissible temperature of the cup material. Due to the low circulation rate, the medium heats up only slightly or not at all. In addition, a higher speed for the centrifugal movement can be realised, which is also conducive to degassing.

The scope of delivery always includes an adapter with which all adapters and cups of our smaller mixers can be used.

The entire process is programme-controlled, i.e. you can programme up to five consecutive steps, each consisting of a mixing step and a degassing step. Up to five programmes can be saved.
