For electrochemical impedance spectroscopy on CR2016, CR2025 and CR2032 button cells or on the cylindrical 18650 cell.Gamry’s low-inductance battery holders for cylindrical cells (18650) and button cells (CR2016, CR2025 and CR2032) can minimise unwanted impedance caused by cable connections and contact impedance thanks to the 4-point Kelvin connection with gold-plated contacts. The lead wires on the printed circuit board also ensure reduced inductive crosstalk of approximately 500 pF to 5 nH.
Product Description
Four-pole measurements are required for electrochemical impedance spectroscopy on the CR2016, CR2025 and CR2032 button cell types or on the cylindrical 18650 cell in order to eliminate additional impedances due to cable connections.
The contacts of the holders are gold-plated for lowest contact impedances and the PCB design has been designed to minimise inductive crosstalk between the current-carrying leads and the voltage measurement leads.
The cable connections continue to ensure a prescribed placement for even better reproducibility of the measurements.
With the Gamry battery holders with low inductance for cylindrical cells (18650) and button cells (CR2016, CR2025 and CR2032) both single-cellmeasurements and measurements of two battery cells in series are possible.
The connecting plug required for measuring two battery cells in series leads to an additional impedance on the battery holder, which can be subtracted from the result spectrum of the two test specimens in series in the EchemAnalyst by recording an impedance spectrumbetween CE1/RE1 (negative terminal cell 1) and WE2/WS2 (positive terminal cell 2).
If you also want to cycle and/or characterise more than two cylindrical cells or button cells in series, it is still possible to connect a total of 4 cells between CE2 of the first battery holder and WE1 of the second battery holder using a connection cable with the lowest possible capacitance and inductance. This connection also leads to a further impedance at the battery holder, which can be subtracted from the result spectrum of the four test specimens in series in the EchemAnalyst by recording an impedance spectrumbetween CE2/RE2 (negative terminal cell 2 of the first battery holder) and WE1/WS1 (positive terminal cell 1 of the second battery holder).
