The high-performance, multi-purpose Reference 3020 (AE) potentiostat/galvanostat/ZRA base unit can be combined with the Reference 30k Booster and is ideal for evaluating new technologies for batteries, fuel cells and supercapacitors, as well as for electrochemical synthesis where high throughput is required.

The Reference 3020 is a high-performance potentiostat whose current measurement range is extended when combined with the Reference 30k Booster. The base Reference 3020 unit can be fitted with 8 additional auxiliary electrometers (AE) via a hardware upgrade.

Product Description

The combination of Reference 3020 (AE) potentiostat / galvanostat / ZRA with Reference 30k booster is a high-performance potentiostat, galvanostat, ZRA with considerable operating speed for delivering maximum current pulses in the single-digit µs range, low noise / hum, high sensitivity and unrivalled versatility with ease of use and connectivity to a wide range of electrochemical cells. The combination of Reference 3020 (AE) potentiostat / galvanostat / ZRA with Reference 30k booster can measure according to sample impedance and frequency range with less than 1% error. Potential, current and an additional measurement input can be recorded with a data density of up to 3.3 µs per data point. These impressive analogue and digital characteristics enable, for example, impressive theoretical scan rates of 1200 V∙s-1 for cyclic voltammograms with a step height of 4 mV. In addition, the noise and hum in the combination of Reference 3020 (AE) potentiostat / galvanostat / ZRA with Reference 30k booster is conservatively specified at < 10 µV rms, and can be reduced even further by oversampling (fast sampling and averaging). The combination of Reference 3020 (AE) potentiostat / galvanostat / ZRA with Reference 30k booster has 5 current measuring ranges from 30 A to 3 mA and offers an adjustable potential of maximum +20 V / -2.5 V at the working electrode. The current at the working electrode is applied with a cable (working), while the potential is measured with a separate cable (working sense). Together with the cables for the counter electrode (Counter) and the reference electrode (Reference sense), four-wire measurements on batteries, membranes or films are easily possible while minimising the lead and connection resistances.

For electrochemical measurements on battery test benches or in parallel with fuel cells, a device with a floating mass is required. The combination of Reference 3020 (AE) Potentiostat / Galvanostat / ZRA with Reference 30k Booster offers this specification without additional modification or chargeable options. The floating ground is specified with 1012 Ω or 1 TΩ (input vs. ground) and is realised by the external switching power supply for the power supply, an additional internal switching power supply with galvanic isolation and an opto-electronically decoupled USB connection. For electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, direct digital synthesis (DDS) circuits and sub-harmonic sampling are used so that spectra between 300 kHz and 10 µHz can be recorded. In combination with the high number of current measurement ranges, this enables precise determination of impedances between 1012 Ω and 100 nΩ for applications in the field of corrosion, coatings, sensors, batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells and their stacks.
