Hot Disk M1
Hot Disk M1
An affordable way to get started with thermal conductivity measurement. The Hot Disk M1 is the ideal measuring instrument for teaching and practical sessions during university studies, as well as for measuring tasks involving simple samples in industry. It covers a range from 0.03 W/mK to 40 W/mK and impresses with its simple, robust design and ease of use.
Product Description
The Hot Disk M1 system determines thermal conductivities in the range from 0.03 to 40 W/mK.
It is suitable for simple applications (e.g. in the building materials sector) where sufficiently large samples are available.
The system has a simple design and consists of electronics, a hot disc sensor, a simple sample holder and the corresponding control and evaluation software. The device is controlled via a conventional PC. Alternatively, it can be controlled via an iPad®.
Thanks to its favourable price, the system is ideal for use in teaching, e.g. for practical courses, or for smaller research projects. However, it is also used in the industrial sector for standard measurements on samples that are easy to measure.
The hot disc technique is also known as the “transient plane source” (TPS) technique. The method works dynamically in a transient manner and is therefore very fast. The flat sensor serves as a heat source and temperature sensor at the same time. For standard measurements with the M1, it is placed between two samples of identical material. The samples only need to have a flat surface, but can certainly have rough or porous surfaces.
