Hot Disk TPS 1000 – the modular measuring instrument for selected custom applications – complies with ISO 22007-2 at an attractive price

The TPS 1000 is designed for users who deal with recurring issues within a defined area of application, such as in quality assurance. It combines top performance with an affordable price, whilst complying with ISO standard 22007-2.

Product Description

Your application determines the configuration of the modular Hot Disk System TPS 1000. The required module(s) is/are determined by the defined customer-specific problem and typical sample size. These consist of sensor, software and hardware accessories. The system fulfils the ISO standard 22007-2 at an attractive price. Irrespective of this, a later upgrade to further sensor sizes is possible at any time if required.

The basic version includes the Hot Disk TPS 1000 measuring device, a sample holder with bonnet, a Kapton sensor (either model 8563, 5501 or 5465, each with cable up to 50°C) as well as the measuring package for “1-dimensional testing” and the Cp measuring module.

The following optional “packages” are also available for extended measurement requirements:

– “Sensor package 4 mm diameter” – includes sensor type 7577 (Kapton or Teflon with cable up to 50°C) as well as software support for the following measurement modules: Standard, Slab, Thin-Film, Anisotropy, Low-Density / Highly-Insulating each for sensors with 4 mm diameter

– “Sensor package 7 mm diameter” – contains sensor type 5465 (Kapton or Teflon with cable up to 50°C or Mica (without cable)) as well as software support for the following measuring modules: Standard, Slab, Thin-Film, Anisotropy, Low-Density / Highly-Insulating each for sensors with 7 mm diameter

– “Sensor package 13 mm diameter” – contains sensor type 5501 (Kapton or Teflon with cable up to 50°C) or sensor type 5082 (Mica without cable) as well as software support for the following measuring modules: Standard, Slab, Thin-Film, Anisotropy, Low-Density / Highly-Insulating each for sensors with 13 mm diameter

– “Sensor package 20 mm diameter” – contains sensor type 8563 or 7854 (Kapton with cable up to 50°C) or sensor type 4921 (Mica without cable) as well as software support for the following measuring modules: Standard, Slab, Thin-Film, Anisotropy, Low-Density / Highly-Insulating each for sensors with 20 mm diameter

– “Sensor package 30 mm diameter” – contains sensor type 4922 or 7280 (Kapton with cable up to 50°C) or sensor type 4922 (Mica without cable) as well as software support for the following measuring modules: Standard, Slab, Thin-Film, Anisotropy, Low-Density / Highly-Insulating each for sensors with 30 mm diameter

– “Sensor package 60 mm diameter” – contains sensor type 5599 or 7281 (Kapton with cable up to 50°C) or sensor type 5599 (Mica without cable) as well as software support for the following measuring modules: Standard, Slab, Thin-Film, Anisotropy, Low-Density / Highly-Insulating each for sensors with 60 mm diameter

Only with very small dimensions or extremely good thermal conductivity properties of the samples is the application range of the TPS 1000 limited – in this case the TPS 2500 S or TPS 3500 are used. The measuring range of the TPS 1000 for thermal conductivity ranges from 0.01 to 500 W/m K, depending on the choice of temperature control, it can be used in a range from -50 to 750°C.

The TPS 1000 works according to the so-called “Transient Plane Source” method and fulfils the ISO 22007-2 standard.

Hot disc technology is also referred to as “Transient Plane Source” (TPS) technology. The method works dynamically in a transient manner and is therefore very fast. The flat sensor serves as a heat source and temperature sensor at the same time. For standard measurements with the TPS 1000, it is placed between two samples of identical material. The samples only need to have a flat surface, but may have rough or porous surfaces. The effort required for sample preparation is therefore minimal.

Almost all optional measurement modules/software packages are available for the TPS 1000.

The anisotropy module enables the determination of thermal and thermal diffusivity in radial and axial direction. Thin films and foils or even coatings can be characterised with the Thin-Film module. The Cp module enables high-precision Cp measurements. The Slab module was developed for measurements on highly thermally conductive metal sheets etc. The Low-Density / Highly-Insulating module is used especially for materials with low density and very low thermal conductivity, such as aerogels.
