Hot Disk TPS 1500
Hot Disk TPS 1500
The system for larger bulk samples, offering a wide range of options and expansion possibilities – complies with ISO Standard 22007-2.The TPS 1500 is a high-precision measuring instrument designed to determine thermal conductivity, temperature conductivity and heat capacity (volumetric) in sufficiently large samples. It is also the entry-level instrument for measurements in accordance with ISO Standard 22007-2.
Product Description
The Hot Disk TPS 1500 determines the thermal properties thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and heat capacity of the measured sample with high accuracy.
The device covers a measuring range from 0.01 W/mK to 400 W/mK. Bulk materials of sufficient size in particular are characterised with this system.
The device works according to the so-called “Transient Plane Source” method and fulfils the ISO standard 22007-2.
The hot disc technique is also known as the “Transient Plane Source” (TPS) technique. The method works dynamically in a transient manner and is therefore very fast. The flat sensor serves as both a heat source and a temperature sensor. For standard measurements, it is placed between two samples of identical material. The samples only need to have a flat surface, but may have rough or porous surfaces. The effort required for sample preparation is therefore minimised.
Typical samples for the TPS 1500 are solids, powders, bulk materials or foams. The available optional measuring modules extend the range of applications. The anisotropy module allows the user to determine the thermal and thermal diffusivity in radial and axial direction. The cp module enables high-precision cp measurements. The low-density/highly insulating module is used especially for materials with low density and very low thermal conductivities, such as aerogels.
The technology is now also used in the field of non-destructive quality control. The software takes over the tasks of controlling peripheral devices and supports statistical data analysis.
