Gamry Faraday cage
Gamry Faraday cage
The Gamry VISTASHIELD Faraday cage provides effective shielding against electrical background noise for demanding measurements at very low currents – even for large measurement cells.Like its predecessor, the foldable Faraday cage provides effective shielding against electrical interference from the laboratory environment (rotary vane pumps, fluorescent tubes, etc.). The spacious interior allows for the accommodation of a wide variety of electrochemical measuring cells, including larger ones such as Gamry’s Dr Bob’s cell, voltammetry cells or Gamry’s multi-purpose corrosion cell. The cage can also accommodate an IMPS/IMVS setup for the characterisation of dye-sensitised solar cells or cells for spectroelectrochemistry from UV/VIS to NIR or Raman.
Product Description
The coated aluminium plates of the Faraday cage are abrasion and chemical resistant. The Faraday cage features a two-position shelf, four mounting holes for flexible configurations, multiple entry points for cables or tubing and handles for easy transport. It is also large enough for Gamry’s multipurpose corrosion measurement cell or optical bench for IMPS/IMVS measurements.
A grounding lug is available for easy connection of the Faraday cage to the potentiostat’s ground reference point via the floating ground (FG) cable. If the potentiostat is not floating with regard to its earth reference point, but is connected to a good earth (water pipes, heating pipes, building services, etc.), the floating ground (FG) cable in the standard cell cable of the potentiostat is sufficient to connect the Faraday cage to this common earth.
Using the adjustable plastic bases in the cage, you can optimise your electrochemical cell for the lowest capacitances (short cable lengths) between the working electrode and the respective ground reference point by adjusting the sample height. This enables EIS measurements on very high-resistance samples with their often very low capacitances in the nF or even pF range with significantly lower phase jumps in the current measurement range switchovers.
