The RDE710 Rotator for RDE, RRDE and RCE has been developed for hydrodynamically controlled electrode reactions, both for the characterisation of catalysts and for the determination of flow-induced corrosion rates.The RDE710 – Rotating Disc (RDE), Ring-Disc (RRDE) or Cylinder Electrode (RCE) from Gamry – is a high-speed, low-inertia DC permanent magnet motor. Between 50 rpm and 10,000 rpm, a wide variety of materials can be controlled both manually and digitally in conjunction with a potentiostat, depending on the shaft and electrodes used.
Product Description
The RDE710 – Rotating Disc (RDE), Ring Disc (RRDE) or Cylinder Electrode (RCE) from Gamry is a rotator for demanding customers in the field:
– Corrosion
– Catalyst studies
– Catalyst development
– Fuel cell research
– Reaction control through controlled transport of the reactants to the electrode surface
and enables both the control of constant revolutions and the control of acceleration/deceleration between sequences with necessary speed modulation.
With the controller, you can set the speed of the shaft either via the 3600° rotary knob or via software and display the actual instantaneous speed measured by a built-in tachometer on the LCD screen.
Basically, experiments are carried out on rotating disc electrodes if you want to realise a defined mass transport to the electrode in your electrolyte, for example to evaluate catalysts for electrochemical water decomposition.
Experiments in connection with rotating cylinder electrodes have their origins in the oil industry in order to simulate framework conditions for hydrodynamically induced corrosion processes within a pipeline.
The versatile design allows you to combine many different types of electrodes with the rotator for hydrodynamically controlled studies. The different shafts and electrode tips can be selected under accessories depending on the application type.
You can even use the rotator rotated by 180° as a spin coater for coating purposes, for example to apply slurries of catalysts evenly in the test medium before the actual characterisation.
